PRACTICE SPOTLIGHT

Coastal Cancer Center

In February, OneOncology and its South Carolina-based partner, Coastal Cancer Center, acquired two radiation oncology centers in Myrtle Beach and Conway, South Carolina. This acquisition, which included four linear accelerators, and partnerships with three radiation oncologists, and forty employees, enabled Coastal Cancer Center to rapidly expand into the radiation oncology service.

With this expansion, Coastal Cancer Center now offers a comprehensive range of cancer treatments, integrating medical oncology, radiation oncology, imaging services, and an on-site pharmacy under one roof. This enhanced service offering not only improves patient convenience but also strengthens continuity of care, ensuring treatments are more coordinated and seamless — factors that contribute to better outcomes and higher patient satisfaction.

Strategically, this addition bolsters Coastal Cancer Center’s ability to be a contending force in the South Carolina oncology market. Furthermore, it enhances the practice’s financial sustainability by creating growth opportunities across diverse service lines.

Tennessee Oncology

In August, OneOncology and its Tennessee-based partner, Tennessee Oncology, collaborated with Ascension Saint Thomas Health to launch an advanced cellular therapy program offering CAR-T cell therapy. This groundbreaking treatment involves modifying a patient’s T-cells to target and destroy cancer cells, representing a cutting-edge approach to personalized cancer care.

Through this partnership, Tennessee Oncology is bringing CAR-T therapy to a patient population that previously lacked access to such innovative treatments. Natalie Dickson, MD, medical oncologist, CEO, and President of Tennessee Oncology, highlighted the program’s significance, stating, “This community-based CAR-T program is a significant step forward in our mission to provide every patient with access to the highest quality cancer care and the most advanced treatments available. By expanding the reach of CAR-T therapy into the community through this partnership, we are fulfilling our commitment to bring innovative, life-saving treatments closer to home for our patients.”
